Big news first!
THE CASCARA PAGES AND THE STATUE OF HARMONY is only a few weeks away from being released!
"When Zoe, Caleb, and Angie get pulled into a fantastical world through a mysterious tree and its odd groundskeeper, they must figure out how to find their way home again when they don't know where they are ... or who they might meet."
It's a world of dragons, merfolk, castles, and fairies, and three kids must work together with some newfound friends to dodge a suspicious villain whose plans will stop them from getting home.
The Guardian Oak series is proof that a story can take you anywhere when there are adventures to be had between the covers of a book!
It's always exciting to announce a new book coming up but this one has been a special adventure for me.
First, it's a co-writing project! Alisha and I started this book as an idea almost 10 years ago, and for various life reasons, it had to be set aside for a season (a longer one that we expected but that's how it works sometimes). Then a couple years ago, we decided it was time to get back to it. We had a deadline to keep us motivated and we started writing again!
I've cowritten scripts and songs before, but never a book and Alisha has been a great writer to work with. She's got a great imagination and is a terrific reader so the ideas would just fly some days :).
Second, it's a chapter book. Geared for approximately grades 2-5, it's a new niche for me and I've been loving the age group. We had a special group of beta readers with this story - a 4th grade class under the amazing Mrs. McKay "read along" with us and offered their feedback and provided some amazing artwork that we LOVED going through. So the story has been well vetted by the readers we're writing for and that's a special thrill too.
And thirdly, it's a series. We're already at work on the next story and can't wait to share where our intrepid trio ends up next.
It will be available in both paperback and hardcover to help families, schools, and libraries add this adventure series to their shelves.
We hope you'll join us on this adventure!
